Teen Rescued after Falling from Steep Embankment

On Thursday Evening, November 5, 2020 just before 6pm the Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department was called out to rescue a 14 year old boy who had fallen down an embankment in the Norris Shores area of Sharps Chapel.

The Sharps Chapel Fire Department responded to the incident at 139 Cove Point near the lake where a 14 year old male had apparently fallen down an approximately 75 foot embankment and sustained injuries to one of his legs. Sharps Chapel VFD requested assistance from the Union County Rescue Sqiuad who also sent a unit out to assist with the rescue.

According to the report, A low angle rescue was set up and the teen was placed in a stokes basket and pulled back up the embankement where he was then taken to Union County EMS and transported to an area hospital.

The teen was expected to fully recover with non-lifethreatning injuries.
