The Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department responded to a possible residential fire call at 108 Fishers Loop in the Sunset Bay area of Sharps Chapel on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 around 2:30pm.
SCVFD Engine 51 and Engine 52 responded to the scene to find no smoke or fire showing on arrival. The chimney area of the home had been struck by lightning and exploded in the rear of the home. Lightning had also ran through the wiring of the home causing damage. The homeowner was at home when the incident took place, but no injuries were reported.
Units from Northeast Union, Maynardville and Paulette Fire Departments were in route to assist, but were canceled.
