Fundraisers

imagesFZDV4RO5Each year, our department holds different fundraisers to raise funds to operate the department. The Sharps Chapel Volunteer Fire Department is an all-volunteer organization. We provide fire protection and rescue services to approximately 3,000 residents, and our community is growing each year.  We currently have about 20 active members who attend training sessions, meetings, community activities and respond to emergency calls within our area.  We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We receive funding from the county which helps cover vehicle insurance and liability insurance.  The remainder of our budget is funded by the contributions we receive from the community.  The funds are used to pay for fuel, maintenance, training, equipment, utilities, and a loan payment that we must pay each year.  We operate on a yearly budget of approximately $55,000.00.  The County contributes $22,000.00.

Chief Upton and all of the Sharps Chapel VFD members would like to thank the community for their continued support.

Generally each year, the following fundraisers are held to generate donations.

  • Annual Fund Drive – Each residence in our coverage area receives an annual brochure in the mail around February of each year. The SCVFD does this yearly mail-out to update citizens on what the fire department is doing, and to request donations.
  • Spring and Fall Roadblock – On the first Saturday of May and November, members head to the Horseshoe Bend to take up donations.
  • Annual Community Dinner – In September, the department holds a community dinner in efforts to raise money for operating expenses. Members generally start selling tickets for this event in August.

Again, THANK YOU for your continued support.
